25 apprentices in Anyako in the Volta Region benefit from financial support from philanthropists

25 apprentices in Anyako, a community in the Keta Municipality of the Volta Region, have benefited from a donation of cash and sewing equipment to start their own businesses after the successful completion of their training by a philanthropist and his wife, Dr and Mrs Dawson Bosso.

It was an exciting moment for the beneficiaries who had spent about five years in their respective fashion homes, following their inability to raise funds to graduate after their third year. The gesture, according to Dr and Mrs Dawson Bosso, was meant to cushion the beneficiaries to seek out their best chance in the tailoring and dressmaking industry.

Mrs. Dawson Bosso urged the awardees to take on challenges with confidence and hope to achieve greater heights in order to be equipped with the necessary tools to face future endeavours.

She added that building a resilient economy for the society cannot be achieved through formal education alone; hence, it is a necessity for people to learn and master talents in the quest to develop the country

“As we present to you these sewing machines and tools, it is our expectation that you put them into profitable and good use for your own growth and also to help impact positively on your generations after you and together we can all make Anyako Konu stronger and better,” she encouraged.

The assemblyman for the area, Wisdom Seade, expressed worry over the financial difficulties some youth in the area experience which curtail their growth and development.Whilst commending the couple for the kind gesture, he stated that measures would be put in place to support various artisans to make them financially independent.

On his part, the MCE for Keta, Emmanuel Gemegah, lauded the assemblyman for the efforts he is making to alleviate poverty among his people and urged him to do more.

Mr Gemegah reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring sustainable development of communities.Meanwhile, he noted that there is a need for the citizenry to equally support government’s agenda for the desired growth to be achieved in the society.
