There once lived Mary, the daughter of a pastor. In the same town there also lived a widow with a daughter named Edem. Mary and Edem were very good friends and they visit each other more often to play.

On one sunny day, Mary as usual paid a visit to her friend Edem in their house. As they were playing there were kicking the flower pots with their legs. The widow who was at the kitchen warned them but they paid no heed to her till one of them accidentally broke one of the pots.

On hearing the noise the broken flower pot made, the widow came out from the kitchen with a cane to whip both of them two each.

The pastor’s daughter saw no reason why she should be beaten so she went to his father to report the matter to him. She said; “From today, I will not go to that wicked woman’s house again”

“How many times were you beaten” asked the father.

“At least ten or twelve” she answered sharply.

The father then gave him GH12 to give to the woman that whipped her and to tell the person that her father said she should take the money and at the right time he will come personally to thank her.

Storyteller: This is the story an old lady told me on my way here to meet you.

Audience: is that so? Then long may your tongue be oiled.

Storyteller: And long may your ears be greased.
