
Single-mothers and widows have had the hardest hit during the COVID-19 pandemic. Morning Glory Foundation, a non – governmental organization, donates bags of rice, clothing, and detergents among others in addition to a cash amount of GHC 12,000 to 12 needy widows and single mothers drawn from the Volta and Oti Regions at an event held at Likpe Mate, dubbed; “Lets join hands to put a smile on the faces of the Needy: Donation to the widows and single mothers”.
Each of the beneficiaries received an amount of GHC1,000 in addition to the other items donated.The event also saw three hundred needy widows and single mothers who were taught to make pastries, non-alcoholic drinks, detergents, and interior decoration by the organization presented with handouts and certificates for successfully undergoing the training.
Founder of the foundation, Rev. Mrs. Davida Matti-Atakpah, applauded the graduands for successfully undergoing the training with a call on them to make use of the skills acquired to empower themselves economically.She made a passionate appeal to the Chiefs and People of Likpe Mate to make a piece of land available to her to establish an institute to help the youth of the area acquire skills so as to make them economically independent.
A benefitiary, from Aflao, Dogbeda Adorgu, who is a single mother of three expressed to the foundation for the support. A widow with six children, Madam Casia Duedu, who hails from Likpe Mate, indicated the money given to her will be invested in a business she is running and thanked Morning Glory Foundation for the support.
