Wli / Agumatsa Waterfalls

The Wli Water Falls is the highest waterfalls in Ghana and West Africa. The waterfalls measure 143 meters’ in height. The waterfalls from a height of about 1,600 feet, into a plunge pool where swimming is permitted.

The local name of the fall is Agumatsa which means ‘’allow me to flow’’. The waterfall is found on the same mountain range on which is Afadjato. Wli Falls is located 20 meters away from Hohoe.

In reaching the waterfall, one will have to walk through the greenery forest which provides a cool breeze, not to mention the 12 small streams one will have to cross.

Ghana’s tallest cascades, the Wli (articulated ‘vlee’) falls remain in the midst of a stunning scene of moving slopes, woods and foaming streams. The falls are most great from April to October when you can hear – and feel – the stream of water roaring down.

The stroll to the cascades is the thing that you sought in any case; well, be set up for a long walk (do go to the higher piece of the fall, the lower one isn’t decent) within transit some pleasant perspectives, yet don’t expect dynamite timberland nor any untamed life aside a few butterflies a few fowls. Tagbo Falls is a waterfall near Mount Afadjato in Ghana, located at Liati Wote, approximately 27 kilometers east of the township of Hohoe. The waterfalls down in several stages, with the last stage being about 60 m. high. The area is surrounded by rainforests.

Like the nearby Wli Falls, Tagbo Falls, located at Liate Wote, flow from the Ghana-Togo mountain range. It is an easy 45-minute walk through forest and cocoa trees to reach these scenic falls that are covered by a lush green carpet of vegetation.

From Jolinaiko’s Tagbo Falls Lodge, a 45 minute to 1 hour relatively easy hike will take you to the pretty Tagbo waterfalls. Enjoy a guided walk through tropical farmlands and coffee plantations to the falls. Cross the three bridges over the meandering river and refresh at the pool or enjoy a picnic at the foot of the waterfalls. The water temperature, size of the falls, and the possibility to swim depending on the season. The Tagbo River plays an important spiritual role in the community of Liati Wote; for example, it is taboo to eat fish from the river.

Volta Lake

Lake Volta and, to a lesser extent, the Volta River dominate the Region. It is an area of great scenic beauty, with river and ocean beaches and picnic spots shaded by palm trees. The Volta Lake is one of the man-made lakes that run through the Municipality. It provides an important attraction and potential for much more extensive boat cruises, recreation, boating and fishing, and the development of lakeshore resorts with recreational facilities for water sports.

Overwhelming views fascinate visitors. The attractive small town Kpando has the Region’s most important Riverport.

Golden Beaches

The Region’s 60 km coastline stretches from the Volta River to the Togolese border and boasts white, palm-fringed and sandy beaches. Fort Prinzenstein, a former slave castle is situated in the beautiful town of Keta which is worth a visit. Cape St. Paul at Woe is said to be the oldest lighthouse in the country.

Keta Lagoon/Ramsar Site

The Keta area includes the Keta Lagoon, Ghana’s largest saltwater wetlands, designated as a “site of international importance”. It is 40 km long and 8 km wide and is the most important site for marine birds in Ghana. It is therefore a birdwatcher’s paradise.

Tsatsadu Falls – 10km from Hohoe. There are seasonal waterfalls at Alambo near Leklebi Agbesia; Likpe Todome and a few others.
